Best Books on accounting

  • Intermediate Accounting by Kieso. Or you can watch Farhat on YT if you learn better by hearing.
    • It comes with solutions to the end of chapter problems which I found really helpful.

  • If you are in Canada, Intermediate accounting by Beechy beats Kieso every day of the week. Kieso’s book is a convoluted mess compared to Beechy’s where everything is laid out perfectly, you go concept by concept and there is an example after almost everything.

  • Schaum’s workbooks are invaluable! I used to tear out chapters at a time, take then to work, and read, highlight, and solve problems throughout my shift. These books have solutions, so many example problems, and practice examinations!
  • Becker cpa review – it’s a real nail biter from start to finish, you’ll love it.
  • Accounting for Dummies by John A Tracy
  • The Accounting Game: Basic Accounting Fresh from the Lemonade Stand Book by Darrell Mullis and Judith Orloff
    • lemonade book referenced above is the reason he became a CPA. I skimmed it post-CPA and can concur that it’s pretty nifty, easy to read, and keeps things in context.
  • Accounting Made Simple: Accounting Explained in 100 Pages Or Less Book by Mike Piper
  • Financial Accounting, Student Value Edition Plus NEW MyAccountingLab with Pearson eText — Access Card Package (10th Edition) Student Edition 10th Edition
